Back in Costa Rica, preparing to leave in a couple of days.

I have actually had a good time here this time.

Saw the volcano at Arenal, and had a close run in with some wildlife on the side of the road that was intent on finding out what I had in my bag (cookies?).

It has been a very good trip and am more than a bit apprehensive about going back to the frozen tundra of Washington.

Just a quick note. (Spelling doesn’t count again.)

I am alive and well and in Bocas del Toro, Panama.

The swell has finally arrived and the waves are getting pretty big. Which is good. I had already named every dog in the town. Things like “The Sidewinder”, “Lucky”, “Buddy” etc. “The Sidewinder” is my personal favorite. The surfers here were going a little crazy with no waves.

The weather is great.

The local people are getting ready for Xmass. Little Nativity scenes on the streets and decorations hanging from palm trees, all of it seems a bit out of place.

Now I am going to get out of here, and soon.

First for someplace warm. This will be to go surfing and to dodge the Christmas bullet as people start planning on the crap that they will get for the holiday. I don’t want any more crap and don’t feel like shopping, so adios.

I just got back to DC after a long weekend in Ventura, California, surfing.

It was great fun. The thing that really impressed me was the incredible quality of the California surf. It was awesome there were just hundreds of breaks all of them long right point breaks and all you had to do was pick.

Ventura was really a longboard wave, but still really fun.

The water was COLD!!! I had to buy booties. And the water tasted funky.

Now, still, my mouth gets a weird taste to it, really bad, actually, and I think it has something to do with the water quality there.

Then to England, not exactly sure for how long, nor what the exact plan is, but I just got accepted, today, to the University of Salamanca so I have a plan that will start the end of January, regardless. It is for the Máster CTS: Cultura y Comunicación en Ciencia y Tecnología. Not exactly sure how that will help the career path in the long run, but the degree is in Spanish, and it might be fun. I am also waiting, stalling actually, to see if I get

into the MBA program in Holland.
