Another Hurricane.

Waiting for the next Hurricane, this one is Isabel. The people of Washington, D.C. are FREAKING OUT.

It is hillarious. They are putting boards on their windows in the suburbs. Someone used the term “Storm of the Century.” Not to be confuesd with the cliché of the week. I’m thinking of doing a play-by-play of the non-event just so I can document how boring it is.

I was at work today saying “the sky is falling” and “we are all going to die”. Just to be annoying, which I think is part of my unwritten job description. Bear in mind — I’m saying this to the same people who assumed a terrorist attack when the power went out in NYC.

Never having heard of Occam’s Razor or the Principle of Parsimony.

I Love Surfing.

Just got back from the surf trip. Hurricane Fabian was good. Glassy peaks on Sunday morning with only a few people out. The waves had really nice shape with some overhead sets. Plenty of kooks though. A lot of “you should been here yesterday’s” and that kind of thing (We were there yesterday.). However, aside from one incredible snaking by a slack jawed mouth breather, it was three days of great sessions.

But it was indeed fun and I like my board. The tail slides around a lot. Good stuff.

Friday we surfed Cape Henlopen State Park.

Saturday we surfed Ocean Shitty, Cape Henelopen and the Indian River Inlet..

Today surfed The Cove at the Indian River Inlet.

The Cove is a nice spot a few hundred yards north of the jetty that was good. Aside from the worst snaking of my life, it was a lot of fun. Met some really nice people and caught some great surf.

Surfing Delmarva

There is a swell coming. A big one, too. Hurricane Fabian. (Horrible name.) but it is on it’s way. Surf should be picking up Friday going big on Saturday and Sunday. I just need to make it that far without succumbing to the stress of work. Surfline says it should get to be 8 – 10 foot on the sets. That seems a bit optimistic to me, but I am willing to give it a shot. It should be readable at least. Probably not board snapping size, but I’m not sure; I might still be cursed. Luke snapped his board the day after I used it…

Aside from that I’ve been trying to sell dirt.

I am going to start racing again (running).

I forgot how fun that was and I have been training. I just need to get my foot-speed back up and probably get some new shoes. It feels good to be running although the long slow runs are a bit of a bore.
