Reagan

Monday, June 7th, 2004

“President Reagan was a great champion of free people and free markets,” said NYSE Chief Executive John Thain in a statement.

So they are going to close the markets in his honor on Friday.

That doesn’t make sense.

They opened the markets two minutes late today to mark his death.

That makes a bit more sense.

What is going on?

This Reagan memorial mania is spiraling.

The airport, the conference center, everything…

They want to erect a monument on the mall for him.

I don’t think he was a bad guy.

But if we name everything after him it will be hard to get around.

Encinitas Sandwich Shoppe

Monday, June 7th, 2004

I just had an idea for a sandwich shop in Encintas.

I’ll call it the “Deli Llama”.

And then I will retire.

Sounds of the ocean.

I’ve been surfing a lot the past few days. The waves this morning were really really good.

I surfed Ponto and snuck into, but not out, of a couple of barrels.

There is a sound, however, that I keep hearing from the ocean, more at Grandview, and that part of the beach than today at Ponto. It is this strange, grumbling, grinding sound, that you can easily hear from the water. And actually can feel in your board.

I have no idea what it is, but it is, by nature, disturbing.

If you know what it is, email me.
