Broken Fingers

I’m going to jiu-jitsu almost everyday now. And so I broke another finger, this brings my current broken fingers up to two. My typing has gotten a lot slower. Of course all this happens by accident, today I had my finger trapped in someone’s gi and they rolled snapping my finger. I think someone should do a study…. I was thinking about this after I banged one of my broken fingers… I wonder if you bang injuries on stuff more often than other parts of your body, or if you just notice it more. I think you may hit them more when they are swollen, but the world may never know.

I’ve not had any broken fingers (yet), but I have been sore in the upper joint of my middle finger on each hand (especially the left) pretty much since I’ve started. I’m presuming that’s from gripping like a terrified monkey as people try to pass.

Feels like arthritis, but from chatting to one of the other guys at RGA, I think its actually swollen tendons. Either way, hurts to bend them - I guess the month off in May will at least give them a chance to recover. ;)

Now which one of the Doctor’s at the Acadmey told you that. :)

If you were really a terrified monkey you would grip their gi with your feet when they tried to pass your guard.

To only have opposable thumbs on your feet…. You would be unstoppable.

What are you doing in May?

Heh - estate agent rather than a doctor, IIRC, but he had apparently had the same thing and asked his doctor. So I’m hoping that info is at least semi-reliable.

Reason I’m off in May is due to a holiday in the Caribbean, so not exactly a cause for complaint. ;)

Admittedly I’ll be pining for training, hence bringing along some BJJ reading material, but it will probably be healthy to have some time off. Probably.

The holiday itself is from 4th til 18th, but thought it worth pausing the month, particularly as my gf’s bday will take up most of the week after. That means I’ve still got the option of popping along to other classes (there’s a sub grappling place near my flat in Birmingham), or indeed privates at RGA. Will have to see how to cold turkey thing goes. :p
