Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu Results.

I have been to a couple of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments lately and was going to summarize the results. Here they are:

  • Campeonato Sulamericano – Silver Blue Belt Master Heavy
  • 3e Coupe Suisse Jiu Jitsu Brésilien — Gold White Belt Middle Heavy
  • Bristol Open — - Gold White Belt Absolute
  • Gracie Invitational – Silver White Belt Absolute
  • Amsterdam Open — Bronze White Belt Middle Heavy Weight, Bronze Beginner No-Gi Middle Heaveyweight (I lost to the same guy twice, who won gold in both divisions.)

I finally feel like things are starting to come together. I’m getting over a lot of bad habits. Part of it is that I now am winning by submission in contests. You save a lot of energy for your other matches and don’t have to worry about points. Conservation of energy. It also helps with your confidence I’ve found.

WAR KOPLITZ! CONGRATULATIONS BILL. Roger must be thinking about awarding a blue belt soon no? unfortunately i haven’t been as dedicated, but am still hoping to get to a standard so that i can compete in a tourney at the end of this year. Just out of interest did you catch the ‘gogoplata bug’ that has been going on in mma? what is your high percentage submission?

    Hey Ant, Thanks!
I’m not sure when/if Roger will give me a blue belt. He seems to work in mysterious ways… I have not caught the gogoplata bug, but I have been gogoplata-ed by people who have caught it.
Armbar is my highest percentage submission…. What about you?
How have things been going for you in the Big Smoke?
    We should catch up…

i americana-ed someone twice in a row which really pissed off the other guy and is thus my personal fave. but armbar is definately high percentage. i’m not flexi enough to do an effective rubber guard, it makes me look like an upside down beetle.
coming to warwick castle for jasmine’s birthday? if so then i guess i’ll see you there for hi jinx and misbehaviour.

I don’t think we are going to be able to make it to Warwick. Tomfoolery may have to take place in London….
