2007 Mundials
I’m not sure how many times I clicked refresh the past few days, but my fingers are sore.
Roger Gracie has won the Super-Heavyweight and Open class at the 2007 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships.
Congratulations Roger!

The Fightworks Podcast has a load of stuff on the Mundials too, including an interview with Roger:

Thanks! I actually went out to go train with those guys. I figured I would say helllo to Dan. But I couldn’t find the gym! Part of the curse, perhaps…

Was that before or after you listened to their podcast? Would be kind of cool to train with internet celebrities, in an “ooo, I’ve heard you on the internet!” kinda way. Then again, a large proportion of the instructors at RGA have been interviewed on the net, so I guess that sorta counts.

I’ve been listenting to the podcast for a while. It is a small network, the BJJ folks, thanks to your blog, you might wind up being an Internet celebrity, too….
In Northern Virginia there are a number of good BJJ schools. I think the fightworks guys were at the Europeans and are friends with Jude. Or maybe that was Gumby.

They’ve mentioned Jude a few times in the podcast, so I assume they probably met at the Europeans when they did a show on that event (not sure if Gumby knows him, but that wouldn’t be surprising given how active Jude is on the net and BJJ in general).
I think the earliest Jude’s name cropped up was when he set up the first interview with Roger, episode 20 something.
